Facilities

Built in 1952, Alexander Hamilton Elementary sits on the Northeast corner of Fairmount Ave. and Olive St. in the community of City Heights. The school sits on 6.7 acres that back into Swan Canyon. The school's location is convenient to the 15 and 805 freeway. Its proximity to Swan Canyon make it conducive to learning about the role of urban canyons in an urban watershed. The schools appearance is pleasing and well groomed. Students feel proud of their school and contribute to its cleanliness.

Providing safe and well-maintained schools is a top priority for the school district. To ensure that all classrooms and facilities are maintained in a manner that supports instruction, a scheduled maintenance program is administered by the district.

Teachers have access to a centralized workroom, reading resource room, staff-development room, a multi-purpose media room, and a room for adaptive physical education.

Improvements are underway with funding from Proposition S. Improvements completed include: a new library, updated play structures and painting and maintenance of all current buildings and bungalows. Additional work will include: updating the schools network(wired& wireless), server, and the continued i21 technology rollout. The i21 upgrade will give each classroom an interactive whiteboard, wireless router, surround sound speaker system, netbook tablet computers for each student, a tablet computer for the teacher and a classroom laser printer.
